Why you don't need Self-Discipline to Succeed
If you have to use self-discipline in your work,
you are doomed to failure.

I don't have a self-disciplined bone in my body.
We all do things every day. We move towards
things we like and love, and move away from
things that cause us pain.

Do you think I'm writing this article because I
am self-disciplined? Hell no! I'm writing it
because I get pleasure out of doing this - just
as I get pleasure from exercising, and I get
pleasure from eating a raw food diet.

Many people can't imagine gaining pleasure from
writing, exercising, or eating a Vegan Raw Food
Diet. But I, in fact, love doing these things.
However, there was a time in my life when I was
in high school and college that I hated
computers, writing, lifting weights and eating
fruits and vegetables.

So how did I do it? Did I use self-discipline to
make myself all of a sudden like these things?
Absolutely not. I am horrible at self-discipline.
But I am a motivated person as all people are.
Every single one of us on this planet is
motivated towards something.

Many of us are very self-disciplined at watching
TV, going to movies, playing video games, surfing
the web, eating out at our favorite restaurants,
or hanging out with friends. So we are all self-
disciplined.

Get it out of your mind that you lack self-
discipline. You can get yourself to do just about
anything if you really want to do it.

Life is about pleasure and not about self-
discipline. You must learn to master the two main
motivating forces in life: Pleasure and Pain.

Why do we file our income taxes? For most of us
it's not for the pleasure of it, but to avoid the
pain of going to jail or paying heavy fines. Why
do we want to go on vacation? Because we picture
all the enjoyment we will have.

So the key question is: how was I (and how will
you) be able to get yourself to do things that
you currently don't like?

There's obviously going to be a need of change
in your mindset. Are you going to have to force
yourself against your own will? This, I'm afraid,
can't be done for any great length of time.

What you have to do is to associate in your mind
more pleasure with the new activity and more pain
with the old activity. Then you have to keep
consciously doing this until you have established
a new habit. A new habit usually takes about 21
days to solidify, though it could take only a week.

Why is it that I enjoy writing now? It's not the
actual writing I enjoy, it's the ability to
express my ideas. I have a burning desire to help
people discover their full potential. Whenever I
discover something really helpful, I love sharing
it. That's just my personality type.

Several years ago I realized that writing is one
way, I can reach many people both via the
internet and through authoring regular books. My
desire for expression and the income I could
receive from writing overpowered my absolute
disgust at writing.

I also had a major change in my outlook in 1987
so that I felt I had something to write about. I
started keeping a journal and often wrote in it
several times throughout the day. Eventually I
realized that I liked writing. I especially
realized that I like writing letters to friends.
I have no problem whipping out long emails. I
know that most people are not like that. But this
is all related to desire.

How did I get myself to do a Raw Food Vegan
Diet? By reading books about the diet. I was so
impressed by what could be done I figured what
the heck, I'll give it a try. Right away, I got
out of a six and a half year depression.

Eliminating the pain of depression motivated me
to do the raw diet. If I ate at least 50% raw
foods throughout the day, I felt fine. When I had
days where I ate all cooked food, I quickly got
back into a depressed state. This has happened
over and over so I know it is the cooked food
causing this. In fact, I had tried several other
diets but they didn't have anything close to the
effects of a raw diet. So I don't think it was a
placebo effect.

But that was only a 50 to 70% raw diet. Yet I
knew there were many other benefits I would
achieve if I could go 100%. One day I ** decided
** to go 100% raw by focusing on all the benefits
and equating cooked food to being worse than
smoking. If you know me, I hate smoking with a
passion. So these things worked to get me started
off.

Then I said I'd just do it for one month. If I
don't like it, I can always go back. I gave
myself the freedom to go back - hoping I would
choose to stay raw. During the initial week, I
had a hard time. I was on vacation and we were
passing all these great restaurants. I started
focusing on all the meals I was missing out on.
This made me very hungry.

Then I realized what I was subconsciously doing.
So I changed my thoughts and focused on how well
I was feeling and on all the amazing benefits
that I would reap from doing this diet. I also
realized that one day it would be easy for me to
eat raw when it became a habit.

That day has come. I never think about going out
to cooked food restaurants anymore. That desire
has completely left me. To completely get rid of
the desire for cooked food took me about a year.
But each week was easier than the week before.

You can train yourself to like anything. If you
like it or love it, you will be very self-
disciplined. So remember to use the force of
desire and you'll never fail again by trying to
use the concept of self-discipline or will power.
This desire you create must be a raging desire.
It must be really strong to get you over the
hurdle.

I recently read a fantastic book that will teach
you how to find out what you ** really ** want
out of your life. The book is by Jack Zufelt and
is called, "The DNA of Success." In it Jack shows
you how to find your Core Desires. Once you find
your Core Desires, they will unleash the
Conquering Force of Desire within you. You will
be motivated by desire and not self-discipline to
achieve your dreams.

If you are like many other people and don't know
what you want out of life then this is the book
for you. Jack also has audio programs so that you
can Unleash your Conquering Force while driving
to work. Make sure to check out his interview
with Mike Litman which can be found at this link

Are you still hungry?
Have you ever felt hungry after eating a full raw meal? Do you wonder why that happens? Below I answer a letter from one of my subscribers that will show you what to do to stay full.

*~*~*

Hi Roger,

I enjoy your emails. I have not gone totally raw yet. Am working on it. I have a question & I know you must be flooded with questions, so I'm not sure I will hear back from you, but thought I'd try anyway. I am now engaged to a man who is 6 ft 4 inches & slender & somewhat muscular & is 68 yrs old & has a job that is medium strenuous, not sedentary, but not grueling at all.

I am trying to learn to cook raw for him & myself. I am having a hard time filling him up with raw food. He sometimes gets hungry after only an hour after a meal. By the way, he's a new vegetarian, but he loves it. He has eaten meat all his life up to now. Could his body just be in the habit of eating too much, so that a raw meal doesn't FEEL like enough to him?

I have studied a lot of nutrition & have eaten a good diet all my life, but not quite all raw. And I have studied your emails as well as other raw material.

If you are able to answer emails, I will eagerly look forward to one, & I thank you MUCH in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Judy

*~*~*

Hi Judy,

I think the answer may be a simple one. He simply needs more calories, but these calories should come from sweet fruit and not fatty foods. A salad, even with an oily dressing and an avocado won’t satisfy some people’s appetites.

They never satisfy me. Whenever I go out to a raw restaurant, I usually need to eat two or three entrees to get close to feeling full. To feel satisfied we need to have the best fuel source, that would be the sugar from sweet fruit.

Keep this important principle in mind. He’s going to need about the same number of calories that he was getting from cooked food, in raw foods. That requires eating much more in the way of volume. He might feel artificially full before he really is full.

Fruits and vegetables are the lowest calorie per bite foods. They take up much more space per calorie than oil for instance.

Let me explain this better. You have to eat much more weight and volume in fruits and vegetables to get the same number of calories that you would get in a typical cooked food meal.

Here’s another interesting tidbit. One pound of oil contains 3.900 calories. One pound of green vegetables is around 100 calories and of sweet fruit is about 250 calories. So it’s very easy to overeat fatty foods.

Just keep on making the same meals as before and watch the fat content. But before he eats the dinner meal, he needs to fill up on as much fruit as he feels necessary.

He might need to eat 5 bananas or more or make a banana smoothie with blueberries. Or eat mangoes or grapes. The key is to get enough calories from fruit. Then let it digest for about 15 minutes or more and then he can have the raw dinner meal.

If he is still hungry after the meal, it probably means that he didn’t eat enough fruit at the beginning of the meal. You can also have fruit in your salad if you don’t add any oil or fatty foods to it. Cut up apples or some citrus fruit like oranges and add them to your salad. This will help to increase the carbohydrates in the meal, so that you will feel full.

He will feel full when he has consumed enough calories, enough nutrients and his stomach has stretched. The stomach has stretch receptors to signal we are full by detecting the volume of food eaten, not the weight of the food. The fiber and water content of raw fruits and vegetables will make your stomach stretch much more than it is used to.

Raw fruits and vegetables are the highest nutrient, per calorie, ratio foods. You get full faster because the food is high in bulk and nutrients. But it takes some time for big eaters to learn to eat enough fruit to be satiated.

They’ll have to learn how to stretch their stomachs more than they are used to. Cooked foods are dehydrated and much higher in calories per bite. Plus they are loaded with toxins due to the cooking, refining and additive process. These toxins if not removed will be stored in your body’s fat cells, making you fatter.

I don’t recommend combining sweet fruit with avocado or nuts and seeds. Fatty foods are the hardest to digest and take up to 4 hours or more to digest. If you eat a fatty food and then eat sweet fruit in the next 1 to 4 hours, the fruit may ferment in your system while it is waiting to be digested.

It’s always best to eat fruit first. Save your fat meals for the evenings. Even then, you should try to keep your daily fat consumption to 10 to 15% of total calories consumed.

I recommend a low fat, raw diet if you want to have optimal health. I also recommend the reduction or the elimination of the use of oils. I wouldn’t use oils or too many fatty foods.

You can make delicious low fat dressings without oil or vinegar. You can also make quick and hearty recipes that are low fat. These recipes and raw food preparation principles are available at my website:

More Evidence That Cooking Destroys Nutrients

More Evidence That Cooking Destroys Nutrients

By Roger Haeske

I’ve discovered more evidence that cooking destroys nutrients, including
cooked vegetables. Although some nutrient levels may be increased,
others are decreased. This information also indicates a very strong
correlation with decreased cancer rates as the consumption of raw fruits
and vegetables goes up.

One of the main points of the Optimal Raw Food Diet is that it be 100%
raw. Cooking does too much damage to the foods to be helpful in any way.
There is overwhelming evidence that eating cooked food will eventually
lead you to a life of disease, overweight, and unhappiness.

Here are a couple of quotes from Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s book, “Eat to Live,”
explaining the health-protective benefits of raw fruits and vegetables
and explaining the damage that cooking does.

Pg 43:
“When vegetables are cooked, or eaten with fat, some nutrients are more
efficiently absorbed and other heat-sensitive nutrients are lost or
rendered less absorbable. Many studies (Over 250: My added comment) show
that raw fruits and vegetables offer the highest blood levels of
cancer-protective nutrients and the most protection against cancer of
any other foods, including cooked vegetation. Any advice not recognizing
that raw vegetables and fresh fruits are the two most powerful
anti-cancer categories of foods is off the mark.

Paul Talalay, M.D., of the Brassica Chemoprotection Laboratory at the
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is involved with researching the effect
of cooking on phytochemicals. He reports “widely different effects on
the compounds in vegetables that protect against cancer.” These
compounds are both activated and destroyed by various cooking methods.”

Pg 43 as well:
“These heat-sensitive elements may offer significant nutritional
advantages to protect against disease, according to investigators from
the Department of Biochemistry at Wright State University School of
Medicine. These researchers concluded that “most foods undergo a
decrease in nutritive value in addition to the well-known loss of
vitamins when cooked and/or processed.” Most vitamins are
heat-sensitive, for example, 20-60 percent of vitamin C is lost,
depending on the cooking method. Thirty to forty percent of minerals are
lost in cooking vegetables as well. Consuming a significant quantity of
raw foods is essential for superior health.”

** Vegetables, fruit, and cancer prevention: A review

“Abstract
In this review of the scientific literature on the relationship between
vegetable and fruit consumption and risk of cancer, results from 206
human epidemiologic studies and 22 animal studies are summarized. The
evidence for a protective effect of greater vegetable and fruit
consumption is consistent for cancers of the stomach, esophagus, lung,
oral cavity and pharynx, endometrium, pancreas, and colon.”

Here’s the link to the whole study.

http://www.mi-cancergenetics.org/articles/veg-fruit.html

** Digestive Leukocytosis **

Here is another problem caused by the cooking and processing of foods,
an increased white blood cell count or leukocytosis. This is considered
normal since all people who eat cooked food get it.

From what I understand, raw foodists often have a lower white blood cell
count than what is considered, so-called normal. But that is only
because we don’t need so many white blood cells circulating in our blood
because our diet is pure and doesn’t trigger our defense mechanisms.

Notice that vinegar creates a severe increase in the white blood cell
count as well. Cooked animal proteins where the worst offenders.

To see the whole story please follow the link below the quote.

** A quick note: I believe the author overstates the importance of
enzymes in this article, there is much more than enzymes destroyed by
cooking.

The enzymes in raw foods are of minor concern, since most of them don’t
make it through the digestive process. Also the majority of the enzymes
needed to digest a food come from our own body and not the raw food.

Most of the enzymes in fruit are gone once the fruit has ripened anyway.
However, the basic information on the leukocytosis is good.

“Leukocytosis was first discovered in 1846. At first, it was considered
normal because everyone who was tested had it. Paul Kautchakoff, M.D.(4)
later found that leukocytosis was not normal. In fact, the major cause
of leukocytosis was discovered to be the eating of cooked food. An
entire category of leukocytosis was classified as "digestive
leukocytosis," that is, the elevation of the white blood cell level in
response to the lack of enzymes in the cooked food in the intestine. It
is pathological because the pancreas was never intended to provide 100%
of the digestive enzymes needed.

Dr. Kautchakoff divided his findings into four classifications according
to the severity of the pathological reaction in the blood:

1. Raw food produced no increase in the white blood cell count.
2. Commonly cooked food caused leukocytosis.
3. Pressure cooked food caused even greater leukocytosis.
4. Man-made, processed and refined foods, such as carbonated beverages,
alcohol, vinegar, white sugar, flour, and other foods, caused severe
leukocytosis. Cooked, smoked and salted animal flesh brought on violent
leukocytosis consistent with ingesting poison.

Magic Questions that Rip Profitable Ideas from Your Subconscious Mind

Magic Questions that Rip Profitable Ideas from Your Subconscious Mind

© 2005, Roger Haeske

“How Two Simple Ideas, Saved Me 15 Minutes per Day and Increased my
Income”

I’m going to share a story with you of how I recently used Magic
Questions to improve my life. As you may know, I have been writing about
the Magic Questions System for many years.

This article will show you how to put Magic Questions to work in your
life for any goal you want to achieve. My four week E-Seminar called
“Your Infinite Power,” goes into the Magic Questions System in detail.

** What are Magic Questions, you might be asking?

They are simply questions that direct your conscious and subconscious
mind toward a positive goal or solution. The key in life is coming up
with the right question. Once you have the right question, the answer
usually comes quickly.

Once you start using Magic Questions you become like an inventor. You
are constantly wondering how you can do something better. It could be
any process in life, from getting better gas mileage, receiving a raise
at your job, finding the love of your life, experiencing radiant health
or motivating others to improve the world.

Countless people don’t ask themselves many questions at all. If they do,
those questions are often negative.

** Why do I always fail?
** Why do I have a horrible backhand? (For tennis players.)
** Why can’t I keep a job?
** Why does my mother in law hate me?

Ask and you shall instantly receive. Any question you ask will instantly
start attracting answers to you. So if you ask, “Why am I addicted to
cooked food?” You will get a list of answers.

But do these answers get you closer to your goal? Actually, they’ll
probably make you feel bad about yourself. It will tell you all the
reasons why you can’t succeed.

Some better questions would be.

** How can I enjoy eating a healthy raw food diet?
** What are the health, beauty, mental and athletic benefits of eating a
raw food diet?

One of the key ideas with Magic Questions is to focus your questions on
a positive goal. In other words, ask for what you want, not for what you
don’t want. You have to expect that you can get what you are asking for.

All inventions and innovations start with a question. It has been this
way since the beginning of humanity. Magic Questions show you how to be
an active inventor and innovator in your own life.

Here’s my story.

** Recently I was asked to temporarily take over the complete moderation
duties of a big raw food forum. This is a forum I used to be heavily
involved in, but it got so big that I couldn’t handle all the emails
coming into my inbox.

I was getting 20 to 30 extra emails throughout the day. Reading and
deleting all those emails one by one was becoming very time consuming.
So I adjusted my membership settings so I didn’t receive emails but the
daily digest instead.

However, I barely ever read the daily digest. I preferred being able to
quickly glance at the subject line and decide to open the email or not.
To make a long story short, I was no longer involved in this forum,
because it was taking up too much of my time.

When I was asked to moderate the forum, I asked myself a better question
than in the past. This is what I asked myself.

** How can I get involved with the forum again and not waste so much
time reading and deleting emails, one by one?

In the past, I DIDN’T ASK THIS QUESTION persistently enough and
therefore I just assumed that I would have to almost completely neglect
the forum.

** But if you ask a better question, you get a better answer **

The first answer I got was to create a special folder, just for this
forum, in my email reader Outlook. That was a good answer because with a
special folder I could very quickly delete messages that I didn’t want
to read.

This removed these forum messages from my Inbox, so that if I didn’t
have time, I could completely ignore them and not have to do any
additional work. This idea would save me a lot of time if:

Then my second question came instantly and was answered just as quickly
from my subconscious.

** How can I automate the process so that my email program Outlook,
automatically puts the emails into this folder for me?

This was the jackpot question. Once I came up with that question that is
when the timesavings really began. For years, I have been manually
moving emails from my inbox to over 30 special folders.

I could save so much time if I could automate this process.

I remembered that I could filter junk mail, so why not be able to filter
emails directly into the folder I wanted. At the time I didn’t know that
I could do this or how.

Within 15 minutes, I learned how to do it. I’ve automated 10 different
folders already. This is saving me an average of 15 minutes per day.

An extra 15 minutes per day comes out to almost 4 days over the course
of a year. I’ll probably be able to save much more time by automating
this process even further.

Imagine that, I had the technology to do this for at least 5 years, but
never even thought about trying to automate it. I guess, I was just
happy when I figured out how to make the folders, at all. It reminds me
of when I was teaching a friend of mine how to cut, copy and paste on
his computer.

He had been using his computer for editing documents for years and
didn’t know how to cut and paste. He also had internet access but didn’t
know how to use his browser’s address bar. The only way he could go to
websites was by using a search engine or from the links people sent him
via email.

He had no idea he could do these things until I taught him. I took many
of these things for granted because I learned them in college, was
taught by friends with computers or I discovered them on my own
initiative.

I’m sure there are a certain percentage of my subscribers who don’t know
how to cut and paste. Some of you are brand new to computers or never
had someone teach you the basics.

The point I’m trying to make is that if you don’t look to optimize
things with Magic Questions, you could be wasting a lot of time and not
be realizing your full potential.

** Getting back to the main story. Now that I asked those two questions,
I’ve received two major benefits. I’m saving at least 15 minutes per
day. I am also more active on the raw food forum. Being active on the
forum has enriched my life and already increased my sales and important
contacts.

Now you can see what happens when you start asking Magic Questions.
Always ask yourself how you can improve something.

* How can I do this faster?
* How can I delegate this task?
* What is the Silver Lining behind this problem?
* How can I spend more time doing what I am best at?
* What brings me the most joy?

Remember to ask questions that direct you toward things that you want to
achieve. There are always finer levels of Magic Questions.

The writing and editing process is one of Magic Questions as well. I ask
myself.

How can I add more value to this article?
How can I make it easier to understand?
How can I make it more exciting?

Sometimes I even ask myself if there are any grammatical or spelling
mistakes. ? Unfortunately, grammar was not my best subject, I’m slowly
getting better and there’s always something I miss. I just hope I can
understand me.

*~* How to Virtually Guarantee Your Success *~*

If you really want to take your life to the next level, I recommend you
use Magic Questions in combination with the Power Pause Success Formula.

How to Stop Being Tricked by Bad Nutritional Science
How to Stop Being Tricked by Bad Nutritional
Science

** Do you ever get confused by all the
conflicting raw food diet information out there?

** Have you been scared off eating a 100% raw
diet because of what you have read on a raw food
forum or even a raw food book?

** Do you want to know if the science they are
using is valid?

** Has your belief in Ayurvedic Medicine or the
popular body type diets made you believe that
eating raw might not be the best thing for you?

*~*~*~*
Maybe you have those questions or similar ones.
The misinformation out there is rampant. I
believe some of the information is purposely
deceptive and designed to make you fail at doing
a raw diet.

Remember, who profits the most if you don't do a
raw diet? The giant prepared food industry and
the medical and pharmaceutical industry. There
are megabucks in there. I wouldn't be surprised
if some of the negative information you read is
somehow sponsored by one or both of these
industries.

The problem is that even well meaning raw food
proponents can often scare you from doing a raw
diet. I used to be confused by all the
conflicting raw food information out there.

They can't confuse me anymore. I know too much.
I've done my homework and have heard all the
arguments, many times over. It takes a lot of
knowledge, experience and good judgment to be
able to discern truth when it comes to a complex
subject like nutrition. It is very easy to be
scared off by some scientific sounding
information, unless you have a thorough
understanding of raw food nutrition.

In today's email, I'll give you some perspective
and show you how to look at scientific findings.
** With Healthy Skepticism and Common Sense **

** You'll learn some of the techniques they use
to trick you.

** You'll learn how to judge for yourself
whether or not the information is accurate.

*~*~*~*
One of my subscribers forwarded this email to
me. A well-known raw food leader wrote this.
However, I know that this leader does not
recommend that we go 100% raw. In his email
below, he explains the scientific reasons of why
he believes that some cooking is beneficial.

As you might guess, I strongly disagree about
this from a scientific, philosophical and
experiential point of view. He simply used
science to back up his belief systems. But the
problem comes when you don't have the complete
picture. You can totally distort issues when you
don't comprehend the whole. This is how science
can fool you.

Science can distort reality or truth. It's like
Dr. Atkins claiming his diet heavy in bacon,
butter and animal protein is healthy. Studies can
be manipulated, findings can be distorted and
that is why you get all of these scientific
sounding books contradicting themselves about a
certain diet's effectiveness.

There are always studies small enough in scope
that can pretty much lend credence to any
argument. This is because if you focus on only
one aspect of something scientifically you can
get very distorted results. That is why you need
to use common sense and your own experiences
along with a broad understanding of science to be
able to get to the truth of a matter.

The other point is that I know this author feels
that it's easier for most people to stay 80% raw
than 100%. It's a much easier recommendation and
so he may be trying to fit the science to justify
his recommendations of less than 100% raw.

Here are his arguments for eating some cooked
foods and below my reply. I also include some
commentary right after some of his points.

*~*~*~*~*
Here are some of the scientific findings that
support the health benefits of eating quickly
cooked foods compared to relying solely on a raw
foods diet:

(Note RH: Quickly cooking foods still does
severe cellular damage to food. It still destroys
the enzymes and it still creates toxins. The less
you cook it and at lower temperatures the less
damage that is done to the food. But if you
quickly cooked your hand, you'd be in massive
pain. The damage is significant even with quick
cooking. Don't let anyone fool you otherwise.
Cooking kills and destroys the integrity of the
food.)

More Carotenoids: Carotenoids are usually
hooked together with proteins or locked into
their own crystal- like structure when found in
their natural state. Heating helps break down
these structures and free carotenoids for
digestion and absorption into our cells. The
release of carotenoids through cooking can be
measured. In carrots, for example, about 40% more
carotenoids are released and made available
through cooking.

More Lycopene: This phytonutrient, which is
concentrated in tomatoes, is made more readily
available to the body after tomatoes are cooked.

More Sulfur-containing Phytonutrients: Lightly
cooking onions and garlic can help convert some
of the less beneficial sulfur-containing
phytonutrients into more beneficial ones and can
increase the variety of sulfur-containing
phytonutrients that are available to our cells.

(RH: The people with the highest antioxidant and
phytonutrients levels are long-term 100% raw
foodists. There are tests now that can determine
your antioxidant levels and the people with the
best results by far are 100% raw foodists.
Cooking would not improve those results in my
opinion.)

Fewer Alkaloids: The alkaloid content of
nightshades is problematic for some individuals.
Cooking can lower the alkaloid content by as much
as 40 to 50%.

(RH: The body can handle toxins. Most of the
toxins we deal with are ones created in our own
bodies by the breakdown of dead cells. There are
small levels of toxins even in raw foods. But
cooking creates many more toxins than what is in
the food naturally. So cooking to remove one
toxin doesn't make an ounce of sense to me.)

Fewer Goitrogens: Although research studies are
limited in this area, cooking does seem to reduce
goitrogens. These compounds can cause enlargement
of the thyroid glands in people who are
susceptible to goiters.

Fewer Oxalates: Cooking can help reduce the
oxalates found in vegetables by 5 to 15%.
Although this reduction is a small one, it may
still be beneficial for individuals needing to
restrict their oxalate intake. Boiling is the
best cooking method when there is concern about
the oxalate content of vegetables because direct
contact between the vegetable and the water helps
to leach oxalates out of the vegetable and into
the water.

Less Salmonella and E. coli bacteria: These
bacteria are sometimes found on raw sprouts
because they are grown under warm and humid
conditions. This is true whether they are grown
commercially or in the home. The heat from
cooking can help destroy the bacteria in sprouts
as well as any other types of bacteria that can
be found on some vegetables.

(Note RH: Without bacteria, we couldn't survive.
Vitamin B12 is created by bacteria and not by
animals. While killing so called bad bacteria we
have to be careful not to kill good bacteria as
well.

Personally, I don't recommend making sprouts a
major component of your diet anyway. They tend to
be quite high in toxins. This is nature's way of
insuring that these sprouts survive to become
full-grown plants. If you were out in the jungle,
you could never even find enough sprouts to make
a meal out of them. The sprout eaters are
definitely doing something that wouldn't happen
in nature. I haven't heard of chimpanzees making
sprouts a major component of their diet.)

Cooking can also aid in the digestion of
vegetables by breaking down cell walls, a job
your body would have to do if they were not
cooked and you didn't chew thoroughly. Our
digestive system has lost the ability over the
last thousand years to easily digest raw
vegetables.

(Note RH: We probably never had the ability to
digest certain course vegetables like broccoli
and kale at any point in our history as humans.
We also don't have four stomachs to be able to
derive the nutrients from grasses like cows,
sheep, goats, deer, giraffes and other ruminants
can. Bonobos our closest primate relatives eat
only the soft green tips of leaves.

** Do they do it because they lost the ability
to digest the whole leaf?

It's more likely they could never digest
vegetables that were too heavy in cellulose.

Plus bonobos haven't been eating cooked and
unnatural foods in the first place. So the so-
called evolution argument doesn't apply to them.

In my opinion, the theory of evolution doesn't
cut mustard anyway. It sounds good until you
really think it out and realize that it's
virtually impossible. How for instance could we
say that the human eye evolved? It is so complex,
it couldn't happen by chance.

How about a tail for a cat? Did it get all the
bones, muscles and tendons all at once? If not,
how could a partially developed or accidental
start of a tail, help in its survival? There are
many prominent scientists today that logically
dispute the theory of evolution that so many
people take for granted. You can find plenty of
information about this by searching Google for
it. I used to be a blind follower in the Theory
of Evolution, but the more I studied it the less
sense it actually made. There is too much
perfection and mathematical precision in numerous
areas in life to believe all of the universes
happened by chance. There was definitely an
intelligence behind it in my opinion.)

I've included more commentary below.

*~*~*~*~*

RH:
First of all, if we need to cook a food to eat
it, that means it isn't a food designed for human
consumption. Everyone always tells us how good
and nutritious broccoli is for us. Even though it
is high in nutrients, it's also very hard to
digest in its raw state. We can't break down the
cellulose to extract most of the nutrients.

Therefore, some people would theorize that we
should cook it to release the nutrients. Other
people, like me would assume that we shouldn't be
eating raw broccoli in the first place. At least
we shouldn't eat it and expect to get a high
source of nutrients. Many people eating
cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower
and kale get gas after eating these foods raw.
That should be telling them something.

All animals get all the nutrients they need by
eating a 100% raw diet. They don't eat a food
because it is high in nutrients, they eat the
foods that they are attracted to and that taste
best to them. Just because something is raw
doesn't mean we should eat it, or that it is good
for us. Therefore, there is no nutritional need
to eat a food that we wouldn't eat in the raw
state. What do you think we ate before the
harnessing of fire? All raw foods.

The only exception would be if we didn't have
access to enough raw foods to meet all of our
nutrient needs. Then you might have to cook some
foods just to survive. But don't think you would
thrive by doing that.

Secondly, he didn't mention all the different
kinds of toxins created in the cooking process.
Even if you can get some more of some kinds of
nutrients, that doesn't help when at the same
time you create a dramatically increased toxic
load. Therefore, you trade more of "some kind" of
nutrients for increased toxins. Why doesn't he
mention that in his argument? You see how we are
getting an incomplete picture and partial
science, to justify an argument.

The cooking process also decreases the levels of
many other nutrients. So you may get more
lycopene but less vitamin A or C for instance.
Proteins become coagulated and unusable because
the body can't break them down. Fats become
carcinogenic and turn into transfats, which raise
your cholesterol levels. From 20 to 80% of the
vitamin content of raw foods is destroyed in the
cooking process. Plant minerals change from the
organic and useable form to the inorganic and
unusable form by cooking them.

The food goes from being alive to being dead.
There is a strong vibrational difference in the
food. Dr. Gabriel Cousens mentions the Subtle
Organizing Energy Fields (SOEF) of raw foods.
There is evidence showing these organizing energy
fields are destroyed in the cooking process.
Kirlian Photography shows dramatically diminished
energy fields around cooked foods versus the same
food in it's raw state. There are many things
that cooking damages and of which science may not
be able to detect.

It's the difference between drinking fresh
squeezed orange juice versus, pasteurized juice
in a carton. You can taste and feel the
difference. It is like night and day. I remember
the first time I had fresh squeezed orange juice
as a kid; it had such a powerful vibration to it.
I felt it tingle in my mouth and it tasted so
much better than the cooked orange juice I drank
from a carton.

Then finally, there is the question of how much
of a nutrient is the right level. Maybe the level
of lycopene in raw tomatoes is the ideal quantity
for humans. Too much of certain nutrients can
create a toxic overload, as the human body has a
limit as to how many nutrients it can absorb at
any one time.

So you see what one thinks is important depends
on perspective and philosophy. Some scientist and
doctors will often try to use some facts and
ignore other very important facts. Science can
give a distorted view of reality.

Too much belief is put into science, there
should be some healthy skepticism with anything
you read. (Including what I am writing you here
today.) The fact is that we are the only beings
on the planet that cook our foods.

I also know from personal experience that even
cooking small percentages of my diet gives me
less than ideal results. You could give me all
the science you wanted, but I know from my own
experience that 100% raw is the way to go.

I've heard the same from many other people who
for years ate a high percentage raw diet only to
find dramatic and sustained improvements in their
health by staying 100% raw. I never met anyone
who switched to a 100% raw diet who didn't feel
the results were better than while still eating a
cooked food diet.

Even the times I failed at maintaining 100% raw,
I still knew it was giving me better results than
eating cooked food. But I wasn't doing the diet
correctly to maintain it long term. This is why
it could save you lots of wasted energy, time and
money to get expert guidance on doing an Optimal
Raw Food Diet.

"Top Ten Reasons Why We Are Natural Fruit Eaters"
“Top ten reasons why we are natural fruit eaters and why eating lots of sweet fruit is safe and completely natural for healthy people.”

Raw sweet fruit is the staple food for humans. We can and should eat lots of vegetables, leafy greens and some nuts and seeds. But sweet fruit is the best thing for healthy humans. Here’s a list of ten reasons, why I believe that to be the case.

Top Ten List:

1. Fruit has beautiful attractive colors and scents. It tastes great and it’s easy for us to get.

2. You feel happy after eating fruit. Raw fruit has a special electrical charge or something about it that makes you feel happy when you eat it. Cooking, pasteurizing and drying fruit removes this happiness effect.

3. Fruit can make a complete and tasty meal by itself.

4. Fruit is the easiest food for us to digest. Raw fruit frees up the most energy for us because it digests in the least time out of any other raw whole foods. This is why raw foodists who eat fruit have so much extra energy and why their bodies can heal.

5. We know that early humans were predominantly fruit eaters.

From “Fit for Life,” by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond, page 62.

On May 15, 1979, The New York Times ran a story on the work of Dr. Alan Walker, an eminent anthropologist at John Hopkins University. The story was a bombshell for those doctors, dietitians and nutritionists not aware of the immense importance of fruit in the human diet. Dr. Walker's findings indicate that our "early human ancestors were not predominantly meat eaters or eaters of seeds, shoots, leaves or grasses. Nor were they omnivorous. Instead they appear to have subsisted chiefly on a diet of fruit." Dr. Walker developed a fascinating way of determining dietary trends by studying the striations, or markings, on teeth. All foods leave distinctly different markings on teeth. In his studies of fossilized teeth, Dr. Walker noted that, to date, "No exceptions have been found. Every tooth examined from the hominids of the twelve-million year period leading up to Homo Erectus appeared to be that of a fruit eater."

6. Our closest primate relatives the Chimpanzees and the Bonobos naturally eat a high fruit and low fat diet. The digestive systems of these primates are very similar to our own. The DNA of the Bonobos is at least 99% the same as that of humans.

7. Most fruit are low to middle on the Glycemic Index. Even bananas are considered on the low end of the Glycemic Index. According to the book, “The New Glucose Revolution,” bananas are a 51 with foods 0 – 55 considered on the low end of the Glycemic Index. Intermediate is 56 – 69 and high is 70 or higher.

Cooked starches and complex carbohydrates are often much higher on the Index than raw fruit. It used to be believed that complex carbohydrates break down into blood sugar much more slowly than simple sugars, but it is now known that there are many other factors that affect the Glycemic Index of a food. Cooked starches have been shown to cause hyper and hypo thyroid problems as well as damaging blood sugar metabolism.

8. Fruit has the nutrients and fibers to help slow the absorption of their sugars into the bloodstream. This creates a steady rise in blood sugar in people with a healthy blood sugar metabolism. Diabetics are now given fibers such as guar gum to slow the absorption of sugars from their meals. Guar gum is naturally present in bananas.

9. Fruits are very high in antioxidants and phytonutrients that have been shown to prevent cancer and heart disease. A tomato contains over 10,000 phytochemicals. Animal foods have low to no levels of these nutrients.

From “Eat to Live,” page 53: The greater quantity and assortment of fruits and vegetables consumed, the lower the incidence of heart attacks, strokes and cancer. (This particular quote is substantiated by six studies he references in the back of his book. I’ll give you the first one to start out with: Gillman, M. W., L. A. Cupples, D. Gagnon, et al. 1995. Protective effect of fruits and vegetables on development in stroke in men. JAMA 273 (14) 1113-17.)

10. Every cell in the body is fueled by glucose and most cells by fructose, these sugars are abundant in raw fruits. Sugar is the bodies preferred fuel.

Fruit is the miracle food for athletes as stated by the former director of nutrition for the US. Olympic Team. It provides the fuel needed for fast acceleration. Fat cannot fuel any kind anaerobic or fast paced activities like sprinting, playing basketball or tennis. I’ve also found that the more muscle I put on the more my need for fruit increases dramatically. I never crave meat, but I do crave fruit after working out.

*~*~*

I have many more reasons for you to consider the importance of fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruit being your number one food choice. They may come in future issues. By the way, if you can get wild fruit, that would be the best choice.
